Two C-133s in Mojave Boneyard

I happened to look at Mojave yesterday because Coulson’s Boeing 737 Tanker 137 landed there for some reason. It’s sitting on the ramp, so I don’t know why it ended up at Mojave. I noticed that, among other interesting items in the boneyard, there are two C-133s. This probably isn’t news, but it was to me.

I was based out of Mojave from 1975-79 while flying Twin Beeches for Express Airways when not flying tankers during fire season. The last time I wandered around in the boneyard it was full of Aero Spacelines Boing 377 Stratoliners in various states of disrepair. Below is one of Express Airways Beeches in front of their Mojave hangar circa 1977. This one was an ex-RCAF 3NM N16139. I probably flew 3000 hours in 139 over the years.

Yeah, they have been there for decades and have become a fixture at the airport. And it was pretty exciting to me when I discovered them as well. I remember the first time I saw them in person in the 80s when I drove by looking for the F-100s stored there and being converted to drones. For a type that only consisted of 50 examples (35 C-133A, 15 C-133B) and that has been out of service since the 70s' that two still exist at the same location.

Thank you for posting this, it makes me remember that they are there. Hopefully I can see them again.

Clifford I also remember seeing them there in the 1980’s and being excited about the C-133s. They have moved two or three times in the past decades. My dad would fly to out from Oxnard to kick tires. Magical place back then.

I think they are owned by the same guy that owns the Convair 880 and 990 that are also stored there...
There's a pile of 747s there...including at least one SP...couple 707s...at least 10 DC10/MD11s... Lots of interesting stuff...

The C-133s aren't the only interesting aircraft in that boneyard. I spy with my little eye... a Convair jetliner that looks like it might be a 990! And there's a SAAB Draken parked behind the C-133s (always a cool jet!).

Lots and lots of interesting stuff there, I hope that 747SP finds a good home.

I'm going to guess that the Dove is either N4916V or N11XW that flew for Flight Research. I remember seeing one fly for the test pilot school when I worked for Flight Systems at Mojave a few decades back.

There are a couple of Drakens and Larsens in various places and two Huns, but the imagery is three years old so it makes me wonder if all that cool stuff is still there.
