Any updates on this B-24 or is it still abandoned?

Here is another link with some more info. Apparently it's in a wildlife refuge and the plane has been designated an historic landmark. In my opinion, designating aircraft as historic landmarks is silly. If left to rot, they will be nothing more than a rust stain on the ground in a few generations (or totally vandalized or destroyed in storms). What a shame that this B-24 cannot be recovered and displayed. Even the mighty Smithsonian doesn't have a B-24 (they use to have a nose section but gave it to Duxford - not sure if Duxford returned it when they got Lacklands B-24)........

The B-24 called nose section (named "Fighting Sam") in question is still owned by the Imperial War Museum. It is however on a long term loan to the Mighty 8th AF Museum in Georgia.

I thought it was owned by the NASM. I saw it at the Garber facility in the early 80's. Later I read it was shipped to Duxford for restoration and display in the American Air Museum.....
