On my way to the Merced Antique Flyin last weekend I stopped in at the Castle Air Museum. Didnt even think about it being right there next to my planned destination! Bonus stop for Warbird pictures! My pictures are at....

Pictures from my visit to Sonoma and Merced will be over in the Vintage forum in the next day or so under the Merced 2006 post.

This is a nice collection of aircraft. I hate to see planes sitting outside, but these look well cared for and nicely displayed.........

Nice pics! :D

Is this a real P-80/F-80?

http://www.dtlinn.com/images/CastleAirM ... get19.html

This is one type that I'd love to see at the airshows. Joe Baughers site mentions that not one flying example is around but several in museums.

How many are left? Anyone? Anyone?

regards,

t~

Yep... real one. There was also another one as the gate guard at the Merced airport. Should have taken a pic of that one too. Not sure how many airframes are around but there are quite a few in museums.
