This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Actual Costs:
Hangar: $3,000/yr (this varies alot by where you live, though)
Insurance: $3,700
Gas: 30 hours at 35 gph @ $4.00/gal = $4,000
Maintenance: Lunch and two six packs. (Glenn Wegman is spot on. My last paid one cost $1,500 but it was so skimpy, I started doing them myself). Of course, this does not include my time or the cost of going to school. Variable maintenance items are not cheap. I assume an average of $2,000 per year. Some years don't cost anything and others hurt like hell.
Figure about $12,000 to 15,000 per year in total. This is why I did not quit flying when gas went from $2.00 to $4.00. When you are already paying this much, what is a couple grand more? You gonna quit warbirds for a couple grand?? Not me!

No, as it is below 1,000hp. All you need to fly a A model 28 is a complex, high perfomance logbook endorsement.
Used to be at 800 HP for needing an LOA, right? Now under 1000 you don't?

I believe all T-28s require an experimental type rating, except for a handful of machines that are not registered in the "Experimental" catagory.
