Japanese F4U?

Did the Japanese ever get a chance to fly and evaluate an F4U during the war?

No.

The Japanese did acquire a couple of airframes from crashes or ditching, but I do not believe there is any evidence that they ever had a flyer.

That would've been awesome for them if they could've reverse engineered an F4U. Same with the Germans. THe FX-190A has the same airfoil as the Wildcat and Hellcat. Imagine if the Germans had captured a few Corsairs.

So what's an FX-190A????

Focke-Wulf would not have had access to any Hellcats when the 190 was created and it was designed before Wildcats entered the fray.
