Back around the mid eighties, I recall seeing a F9F Panther at Breckenridge behind a hangar....pretty sure it was a Panther, as there were straight wings stacked close by that appeared to go with it...it was in pretty rough shape....
Also during that time, I recall seeing pictures of a F9F-6P in Chandler AZ...very rough, had been abandoned in a field or some such, supposedly it was to be "restored" by a school of something, always wondered what happened to it...
Then there was the -8T at Tom Reillys place in Kissimmee in the Mid '90's...where did it go?

F9F at Breckenridge was Howard Pardue's Bu 127487 Now with USMCAM at MCAS Cherry Point
The Chandler bird could be Bu141675 stored at Buckeye and Deer Valley before becoming part of the Yanks Collection in Chino
I dont find anything on a F9F with Reilly.

I remember this from my younger days up there in Kalamazoo - was a great airshow in the early 90's.

Technology-wise, I don't think there would be a showstopper keeping one from flying again.
Its J42 is a license built Rolls Royce Nene, as used in the Canadian CT-133s, so I'm guessing there are some out there and some support.

It would be cool to paint one and fly it at airshows in this guy's colors:
