I doubt his flight was so low to the lake that when he rejoined his flight that he just happened to hit the surface of the lake. Anytime you hit the water, you are to low....

It's easy to second guess when you weren't there and it's 60+ years later.
When I talked to Mr. Mohr he indicated that the flight was low enough to be kicking up rooster tails off the water. Is that low enough for ya?

I look at it this way and people can flame me if they want, I don't care.

The flight was on a low level recce. They are hardly going to climb back to altitude so they can come back down for another pass. They are concentrating on flying their machines and trying to see if prisoners are being executed. A moments lapse in concentration on one trying to do the other, a glare off the water that prevents knowing just how low a person is, any number of factors can add up to what happened. Sitting in judgement 60+ years later is fairly useless because none of us were there and none of us saw what happened. I am more then inclined to give the man the benefit of the doubt and I believe we all should.

Nuff said.

What's the point of this topic? :?

Anyway:

1. Thank God that Mr. Mohr survived.
2. Thx Jack for sharing the interview.
3. Thx to "whoever" for salvaging Dottie Mae.

regards,

t~ :D

Lt. Mohr was a P-47 pilot and I'm not. He's got my respect. I hope he gets to see his old aircraft again.
