i'm still unpacking the gear and 'drying' out as well......another year down. it was fun though, even with the weather and the no shows. good to see some of you guys as well.

Hmmm,
We wandered north thinking it might be neat to stay in the Pocono's on Sunday night. I'm too cheap for that. ($260 to $420)
So we pulled into a Holiday Inn parking lot, used their Wi-Fi to book a room in scranton on priceline for $47.
Monday morning we slept late, found a waffle house for breakfast and meandered home. pulling into the driveway at around 6:30.

Not a bad weekend.

The ride down was horrid because we left late enough to put us in NYC weekend traffic. (9 Hours)

Sorry we didnt get to see all the others that were there on Saturday. We were sitting on the hill at the end of the runway enjoying grilled steak tips and a full cooler with some locals. (BTW Mudge:No asses in our way up there)

Saturday night our plan was to find the Cheeseburger in Paradise down in York for some dinner. (We were staying in Lancaster) Upon arrival in York we were suprised to see all the Hot Rods driving around town and even more suprised to see the 2 mile stretch of Rt. 30 lined with people in chairs to watch the cars cruise around that evening after the show was over. We found the CBiP and while waiting for about 45 minutes for a table, checked out the cars in the parking lot. After dinner we plunked our chairs down out on the street and watched the amazing sight of what a 4000 car Street Rod show does to a small town. There was some neat old stuff rolling around there. I personally liked the long body T-Bucket with the spindle mount wheels, blown big block and funny car headers.

Ok back to airplanes!

The best thing I heard all weekend was the Airboss saying to Bob and Chris Baranaskus over the radio "Its good to see you guys finally flying together".
It took a minute to realize that they always went to shows together but they never participated in the same portion of the show. Now that Bob is flying the P-40, Chris was in the mustang, not flying with all the T-6s.


We had a great time, took a few pictures, met a few new people, and got to see Brian in full WWII gear being reprimanded over the cell phone.

BTW, Brian and his group put on one hell of a display, all they needed was a few pacific fighters to make it perfect. darn Weather!

Thanks for the kind words on our site! We have been asking for something like the corsair or the wildcat that was supposed to be there, but they just kind of do their own thing with the parking of the aircraft. Whatever.... Yeah, it was pretty cool to walk out of the pacific and step onto a Dday C-47. Nice!

Hi Brain;
Having been involved in a lot of air shows, my guess is that the Corsair was placed next to R. Lee Ermey's Tent because of the obvious "Marine" factor.
It would've looked better by the VF-17 display (though obviously not a Marine Squadron)
You mentioned walking out from the "Pacific Theater" display and bumpping into a D-Day C-47.
What was more interesting is when you looked at what was next to the C-47....a Jeep and a LCVP Higgins Boat!
I doubt there are many places on earth that you can see 3 of the vehicles the Eisenhower has atributed to winning WWII for us. It was an amazing display, though very tough to photograph well. And with no descriptive sign, I'm sure most of the people attending missed the very unique juxtaposition.
