Anyone fancies a TUPOLEV TB-1 (ANT-4) on skis???

Mon May 03, 2021 3:54 pm

Just nuts it is sitting outside!

Well....not really for sale......but still interesting including it's use in military aviation.

Preserved at Ulyanovsk Aircraft Museum. Quite an interesting soviet airliner collection they have including a TU-116 airliner based on the TU-95 Bear

That is if you want to give it a spin.

You have a better chance in a Ford Trimotor :drink3:

I was lucky to get a flight in years ago....and boy was that an experience I'll never forget!

Still....we got in and we went for it!

What I like about this fugly thing is the interwar construction with the corrugated skins.

Ugly yes....but can you imagine being the pilot(s) of these contraceptions in the same family!!!!

Cheers!!!!!

They are fantastic, they look very agricultural and that is what makes them so appealing.

Thanks for the heads-up; this is a truly rare aircraft, being displayed outdoors.

Up until a few months ago, I never realised an ANT-4 still existed, found it by chance while Googling for something else. Amazing survivor.

I think it was an ANT-4 wreck that Jerry Yeagen had being rebuilt a few years ago, but seems to have gone off the radar and I now can't find any mention of it online.

I was actually looking for it a while back. It was on his previous WEB site before MAM's when known as the Fighter Factory.

I also was wondering what had happened to his 109 E project that was mentioned in the restoration section they had back then.
