Questions about the Spencer Flack red trio

Thu May 06, 2021 9:37 am

Hello everyone,
I have recently purchased the 1/32 scale decals from Draw Decals to build models of Spencer Flack's Hunter (G-HUNT), Sea Fury (G-FURY) and Spitfire (G-FIRE) and have been looking on the internet to get details such as colors for wheel wells, landing gear and other areas so my models will hopefully be as close as possible to the real thing - but what I haven't been able to find in my searches is any photos of the cockpits on all 3 aircraft... Does anyone have any references that might be able to help me with cockpit colors on the red trio ? Thanks in advance, Mike

The Spitfire is now on display at the Palm Springs Air Museum, maybe they can help?

The latest boxing of Airfix's 1/48 XIV has G-FIRE as an option, perhaps someone could send you a copy of the instructions?

Hi Mike,

G-Fury was black in the cockpit, Hawker used a satin finish which was neither gloss nor flat but closer to flat. Here are a few photos.

Great photos. That looks like Pete Sheppard standing on the port wing!

She's painted Mike and looking pretty spiffy, still putting her back together. Photos soon.
