Back in the mid 80's I helped in restoring a Spanish T-6. One of the uncompleted airframes was sold in the 1985-1990 time frame. It was in Spanish markings C.6-60 on the vertical stab and 421-7? on the fuselage sides. Anyone know where it is today or the USAAF/USN serial number?

Hello Mike,

That's an easy one for me! C.6-60 is AT-6D 42-84211. Her last squadron code was 421-71.

Her listing in the Warbird Registry is quite complete with just one small text error and she flies weekly!

Thank you for that fantastic photo of her from before my purchase, I will add it to her history with your permission.

Vincent

An error in the Registry! Heresy!
Just kidding, let me know what it is and I'll fix it. If you've already sent an e-mail then no worries it will be gotten too.

Hi Vincent, thanks for the update. I had been looking at some old photos that I had taken and wondered where they all went. Did you buy it as a flyer or a project?

My photo was taken mid 80's when the airframe was located at the Rostraver, PA. airport. There were three airframes total, two D's and a G.

The first one completed was 44-80858, unfortunately ground looped/totaled in April 2016. I was able to keep track of this one over the years.

We started working on the G when I had to move away for work. It was sold before completion as a project after I was gone. I don't have any useful photos of it. The only clues would be, sold out of the Pittsbugh, PA area in the 85-90 time frame.

Don't hold your breath about it being done anytime soon, I have been trying to get Scott to correct the entry for Carl's T-6 for years..

Awww, that's mean Matt. (violin music starts) You do understand that there are over 250,000 files comprising the site, all hand coded by me, while I have a family (with a disabled Mrs. WIX), while I work a full time job. I plug away as best I can.

I know there are a lot of entries, and I am not asking you to redo the entire entry, but I have asked you to remove a photo, which is NOT the plane it is reported to be and replace it with photos of the correct plane, which I supplied, not once, but several times.

Hello Mike, Hello Scott,

The small and insignificant typo reads: Delivered To Spanish A.F. as C.6-6017 (Should Be C.6-60).

Mike I bought it as a restoration project. Someone before me already tore it down more than in your picture when I got it without an engine or prop.
My Father and I restored it ourselves and he is currently restoring another T-6F for me as I'm currently working overseas.
I will send Scott all the details and photos of the T-6F as soon as she's done later this year.
Just a hint, The T-6F is back in her original West Virginia ANG scheme and colors.

Your photos of the ground looped T-6 look very severe. I'm really glad nobody got hurt. Remember, anything mechanical can be rebuilt or restored again. We are irreplaceable!

If you have any more pictures of the ex Spanish Air Force T-6's I would love to see them.

Vincent
