This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Looking for recommendations for the "Best" website on a given subject, such as a specific warbird type, individual aircraft or other military history related sites.

I have actually been working on an aircraft equipment directory just like this. It's not finished yet, but here's a draft:

I love MAAM's P-61 restoration site:
http://www.maam.org/p61/p61_rest.htmIt's not updated that often (of necessity) but when it is, it really hits the spot! I only wish that other museums were able to dedicate time to documenting their restorations in such detail

Really a great site! Unfortunately the V-1 and Sabre sounds wouldn't work for me in the Multi-media section and only a couple of Sergio Pasquale's animations of the Sabre were working. Probably a temporary glitch. Plenty of superb info otherwise.

Although I'm probably confusing examples, I THINK this youtube link is the same Napier Sabre recording that was posted at the Hawker Tempest Page (just over 3 minutes of "music").
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo0Lv1S3RfQWhether the recording is actually Typhoon or Tempest, I'm not even sure erks in those days could tell the difference with eyes closed.

Thanks Dan, that sounds like it. Tho it was purely audio, IIRC. The latter part of the takeoff and flyover were the notable tunes.

Anyone into WW2 in the Philippines, this is the place.
These guys are incredible, crawling into caves and bunkers on Corregidor and exploring the very dangerous Ft Drum, the long dormant "Concrete Battleship".
Not a whole lot of new posts but a very rich archive of older posts [Ft Drum is no longer accessible, for instance]
