Condor on the move...

Fri Nov 05, 2021 12:32 pm

The FW 200 Condor that was being restored in Bremem, has now moved and is being reassembled in Hangar 7 at Tempelhof. While the work is to airworthy standards, she will not fly again. The video is about 46 minutes long and all narration and interviews are in German.

She's a beaut... I thought it was being restored as an airliner; why no side windows?

This restoration will be a bit of a topic for discussion for many moons to come I'm sure. It's fundamentally a Condor but (I think for political reasons which I fully understand) been restored to resemble a civilian Kurier. Thus no bathtub and (I suspect) retaining the Condor fuselage config and landing gear. I am assuming that this leaves the possibility of hopefully one day make the changes necessary to have it fully back in Condor config.

Meanwhile I don't really care: it's a handsome machine and an awesome job they've done!

The military versions added extra weight with little strengthening of the fuselage off memory.Had a history of in flight failures.
