Wonder what the engines cost to overhaul...if they can be overhauled?

I wouldn't get in it with unknown engine history until they have been rebuilt.

A friend had a engine failure in a 50 hour radial..that's 50 hours tt, not SMOH. it just came out of its WWII crate and was serviced before installation...and a connecting rod broke.

iF IT WAS "FLYABLE WHEN PARKED" then I think they could replace the items noted, do a series of ground runs and inspections and then maybe ferry it home. Engines and inspections will "talk to you" and let you know if it's a bad idea to make a ferry flight. There are plenty of engines out there available. What I would also be looking at it fuel pumps, hydraulic pumps, fuel computers and generator loads, leaks and all kinds of things that will try to fail on you the first ten flight hours. So, lots of ground runs will reveal if it can be ferried home. It may very well have to be hauled on a trailer.

If it was disassembled in Vietnam, reassembled and not flown in Canada, and disassembled then moved to the U.S. and reassembled and not flown, then you really can't trust anything on the airplane. Everything will have to be inspected, refitted, adjusted, and perform function checks. Many aircraft coming from Vietnam have corrosion issues and this will need to be inspected to see if there are any issues.

While it’s true that the. T-37B uses J-69 engines, the A-37B uses J-85s.
