Hi Paul,
It is an original Erla-built Bf 109G-6, WkNr.410077, which was recovered from "Lake Swiblo" (Sviblo Ozera in Russian) in 1990. According to research conducted by Mark Sheppard, it originally served with Stab IV/JG54 on the Eastern Front (hence the yellow lower cowl, fuselage band and lower wingtips). It was marked with a chevron and circle, indicating that the aircraft was assigned to the technical officer of the Gruppe staff flight. It was involved in a forced landing on the frozen lake in February 1944, after having been severely damaged by Russian flak.

It exceeds my wildest dream of how nice an ME-109 could be restored. I know this, when they run the engine it can be heard for miles. MY dad had a P-51 and when they would do engine runs my friend would tell me they heard it. I know it will sound sweet to those on the airport that know what they are hearing.
