In reference to "faded away" and "purchased and just disappeared"....Are you saying the trail has gone cold since it was last noted as undergoing restoration at Sanders about 5 years or so ago? That's a bummer. It's still registered to Pissed Away LLC.
Anywho, thanks for the posts and keep 'em coming Neal! pop2

The airplane is still around.
About 10 years ago I was visiting Grant County Airport in Moses Lake Washington, the former Larson AFB.
I photographed it in a hangar, in very good condition.

I A couple of years ago, it flew or the first time in years. It was reported here and included YouTube video.

Just became a plane isn't at Chino and flown for your entertainment, doesn't mean it isn't still out there!

Sorry John, I should have mentioned I was referring to N747M 39-0033 the Daley/Bogue bird. I think you're talking about N777LW 39-0063. But in meantime I located a more current location for -0033 at ATW Aviation, Marana, Arizona. A couple of ATW photos from 2014 and 2019...

You're not tired of this thread yet? Sorry -- Things have been kind of wild up in our corner of the continent, as well as in our household, and I've been pretty distracted generally...

So how about some Canadian content?

I miss having a Tigercat in the UK - mind you, I still can't believe that two of the thirteen survivors have spent time over here!

Keep the piccies coming please, whenever any of you have a chance!! :D

Here's a P-40 starting up at Geneseo in the fall of 1984- the first airshow that I ever attended. Wonder where that airplane is today?

This is a fantastic thread, even for one who has never experienced a North American airshow!

For those of you lamenting the loss of standing 30ft from a warbird and feeling the thunder as it starts, when it's possible please come to a New Zealand airshow. The flightline may be fenced but the aircraft are parked maybe a dozen feet from the fence, and the taxiways and display lines are much closer than I've seen in YouTube videos of US and Canadian shows.

Please keep the photos coming! :drink3:

Sledge -- That Tigercat shot #3 is a wonderful look at a working Tigercat firebomber. That tank is wild looking on such a slim fuselage. I've never seen a shot that shows the tank like that. #4 in that series is also a reallygreat photo.

A few years later many of these birds were out of service and sitting around waiting for rescue in Santa Rosa California. These were casual shots taken about 1980 or so, during visits with LLoyd Hamilton, Jim Gardner, Lynn Hunt and other warbird and racing guys. Santa Rosa was a great place to visit back then even without an airshow.

A bunch of twin engine birds and a single.

This was at a great military show at the Alameda Naval Air Station in 1980, I think.

More bellbottoms, too...
