Hi WIX,

Was going through my Acceptance Data records to check info for a specific T-6. When it was accepted, and where it went for it's first "home" during WW2.

Came across a number of familiar airfields, e.g. Bolling, Bryan, Dothan, Luke, Mariana (or would that be Marana?), Moltrie, Saad and Selma. However there's, for now, one that does not ring a bell; something "VICTR 2" or "VICTR Z". What could that be? (in 42-44000 - 42-44100 series)

Up to you!

Thanks in advance for your support, your feedback.

Regards,

Benno

My thought (and that ought to scare you) that it was likely what became George AFB, outside of Victorville, CA. Opened in late 1941 as Victorville Army Air Field and was used throughout WWII for advanced flight training.

Benno,
Just a thought....
At the extreme right hand side of the data line that reads "VICTR 2", or "VICTR Z", are there two groups of 4 digit codes. If there are these may be "Station Codes".

Examples from Robert A. Mann's "Aircraft Record Cards of the United States Air Force":
Victoria, VA 3391.
Victoria Air Field, KS 7392
Victoria Auxiliary, KS 7389
Victoria, TX 8985.

Hope this may help, Tony

Good day Tony,

Thanks for sharing. Interesting.

Unfortunately there's no such data, these four "digits", on the Acceptance Data documents. The only option to find out might be getting one or more Individual Aircraft History Card(s).

Regards,

Benno
