Probably most of you have already heard that "our" beautiful Grumman Wildcat did not quite make it back to the airfield after a successful air-to-air photo shoot.

First things first - the pilot is fine! After a short stay for observation he could already leave the hospital again.
His controlled and, from our point of view, perfectly executed emergency landing resulted in the least possible damage to the aircraft and the environment. As soon as the BFU has finished its investigation, we will return the Wildcat to perfect condition as soon as possible. We will keep you informed!

By the way, the photo shoot with Philipp Prinzing was fantastic (the photo speaks for itself) and you can look forward to many more amazing shots.

Finally, a huge thank you for the countless requests about the pilot and the aircraft, we are overwhelmed by your sympathy.

Thanks much for this - I've been wondering about the pilot's condition. Very, VERY glad to hear he's ok!

The Wildcat is a tough old bird, and it looks like repairs shouldn't take too long... although the engine and mount are going to need work along with the fin and rudder, obviously.
