Columbus, IN DC-3 Damaged in Storm

Mon May 23, 2022 9:47 am

The DC-3 in Columbus, Indiana was damaged in a recent storm. Photos and information:

The aircraft is the former N139JR, s/n 20550 and has been parked at Columbus Municipal Airport for years. Sounds like the plan is to salvage parts at least.

I wouldn't mind getting a seat or some cockpit parts.

I'd be interested in landing gear and brake assemblies. Need to keep some feet under Hairless Joe.

It looks like it's currently up for auction, with 23 hours to go.

We have a guy here in Lebanon, Tennessee that has a nose section and many other pieces from a scrapped DC-3. You could use those to put this one back together. PM me if anyone needs his number. Hopefully this one at auction will be saved.
