Battle of Britain shot at Duxford over the white cliffs and in France,
sadly no German bombers, so make it from a fighters point of view?

Quite a few early Spitfires exist these days, take the cannons off Mk
Vs and they look like early jobs. Quite a few Hurricanes and yes I
know Buchons will have to stand in for the enemy, there are even
a few of these in the UK and Europe.

The story of the crash and rescue of the three survivors of the C-47 "The Gremlin Special" in New Guinea. Mitchell Zuckoff's book Lost in Shangri-La was a great read. I always thought this story would make a great film.

I'm looking for a good PBY story. Perhaps in the Aleutians?

For some time, Ridley Scott was planning a new Battle of Britain movie. But it seems to have dropped off the radar.

Mark, have you read "Lost in the Pacific: Epic Firsthand accounts of WWII Survival Against Impossible Odds" ?

It is a collection of stories edited by L Douglas Keeney - he was doing research for the Navy and and collected these stories - there is a great deal of PBY rescues in it!

That is a good book. I can't imagine how hard and how gutting it must have been to be a air-sea rescue pilot in those days, looking for needles in fields of haystacks and knowing you weren't gonna find them all.

Might not fit the historically accurate part but how about "The Last Dogfight".
