EAA Ford Tri-Motor...I just booked a flight!

I saw that the EAA's Tri-Motor was going to be giving rides locally this weekend. I just booked a flight! I am VERY excited

I cant wait to tell my girlfriend I got her a seat too :shock:

You are in for an experience.....

Flew in the Kalamazoo one a few years back.

You will be impressed by the very, very short take off roll distance.

And the fact that such an old thick wing design does not need any flap for day to day operation. Guess it might have to do with the fact that paved runways did not exist when she was created. :lol:

Ohhh I forgot to mention......the airframe vibrations when the throttles are opened on the ground during takeoff.

I've been fortunate to fly in Evergreen's Tri-motor a number of times with a couple hours in the co-pilots seat. A awesome experience but also the most heavy on the controls and uncoordinated beast ever made. Afterwards my arms just ached, what a fun workout.
I believe EVG's was the famous "smooth skinned ford".

I had the great pleasure to ride in the Ford Tri-Motor between Port Clinton and Put-in-Bay on several occasions and later assisted Al Chaney with rides barnstorming South Florida. I was lucky enough to have also flown in Lufthansa’s Junkers (D-AQUI) during a US visit. You will enjoy ride and remember it a Lifetime.

I went up in Chuck LeMaster's tri-motor many years ago at Oshkosh. What a wonderful experience!

Silverplate who are you??????? I might know you. I hung out with Capt. AL on is s. fla tours also. I helped him get the tri-motor ready and got to ride rt seat for TO and a 1/2hr into the flt from N.Perry to Seabring. Great airplane, what a handfull, but it sounded like 3 N3N's in tight formation.

At the time I was a supervisor at the Tamiami Tower. Worked flights out of TMB, Homestead General and Marathon. Is that you Walt?

It's here in Manassas today and tomorrow. $50 per passenger is a good deal.

Watched it for a while out at the airport this afternoon. Beautiful.

Well...That was fun!

Everything everyone said was true! Noisey, short take off, and fun! I had a great time, and was very impressed with how clean and tidy the aircraft was. It is really in beautiful shape. The attention to detail in the interior was fantastic.

What day did you take the flight? I saw it fly over I-287 in Northern NJ Saturday around 3:30-4pm while driving home from the Willow Grove Air show.

It was very cool to see, I've never seen one fly before. I wish I wasn't in traffic and could have enjoyed it the sight more.

I was flying yesterday at about 1pm. It was HOT yesterday. There was a nice breeze once we got moving.

It was pretty neat flying above the highways, we werent moving much faster than the traffic.
