Based on the trailer, I'm not terribly impressed with the CGI. I have seen better.
But I'll keep an open mind.
At any rate, I agree with Mark Allen, 90% of the audience won't care.
Also, if they edit the film with very quick shots to build excitement (like we see in most action films) even "we" aviation fans may not notice.
At any rate, I'm sure we won't see many 10-second "beauty shots" of aircraft like we saw in Strategic Air Command.

Looked like a Red Tail Mustang in one shot.
So, allow me to ask a question which may seem silly, but I have never considered because we usually read about the 8th or 15th AFs and not combined operations...

Assuming the series just follows 100th BG missions, Did XV FC escort VIII BC missions?

The only reason I can think of why they wouldn't is coordinating the missions would not have been easy in the days before modern communications.
Seems like that would have been rife with coordination, communication, and security issues.
Definitely possible, but perhaps another layer of complexity.

It should be noted that this is a teaser trailer, so some of the CGI production may not be entirely polished. That's also why it seems kind of action-movie-esque, the whole point is to build excitement for the general public and showcase what's coming. It's also likely that the trailer itself may not have even been made by the production crew but another crew for marketing, just stuff to keep in mind!

Overall I thought it looked excellent! The team that worked on this put a lot of effort into getting it right. There will likely be accuracy issues here and there due to it being a film production, and some compromises have to be made for the sake of story, audience, production, etc, but overall I've heard the team was very dedicated to it.
Excited to see it come out!

From what I've heard it's still primarily centered around the 100th, but some episodes will be touching on some other points of the air war experience (Red Tails, POWs, British and German Cities)

Some of the dialog is cringe worthy, but I still wanna see it very badly
.
I'm not sure why but I loved that scene of a B-17 rolling through a fence. That's a scene you could of course never accomplish with a real aircraft.

Nice photos, the replicas look great.

I'm sure museums are lining up for them, I hope one ends up at Thorpe Abbotts.

I'm pumped up for this. This is probably as close as we will get to an authentic WWII tv show of this magnitude about the air war. And sure we can all nitpick on things, and we will....but I'm not going to let that stop me from seeing and enjoying this. I also think that with the amount of 'press' this will get, it might do some good in once again 'educating' the public on the war and what happened over there. I look at nothing but positives from coming out of this and I will be ready with my (hopefully still available) free trial month of Apple TV come end of January!! (I can't keep up with all these darn streaming services!!)

About the Red Tails in it.....from what I remember is that there is a mention of one of the Tuskegee pilots in one of the POW camps, and that's my guess how they weave that in. Would we of liked to have seen let's say someone from the 20th or 78th FG instead? Sure...but that doesn't 'hit' like this will with Hollywood and the general public. Remember, movies and TV shows for made the reason of making money.

I. Can't. Wait. pop2

Here’s something for those unimpressed by what we’ve seen so far: an 8.5min review examining the historical accuracy of a 2min teaser.

I’m sure faults will be found with this, too.

Well, apart from the Red Tail P-51 which should never appear, the rest we can certainly forgive !

The Red Tail sequence is going to be a side story that ties into the POW experience, nothing in the show suggesting that they escorted the 100th.

New trailer

OMG, just awful! It has HUGE "Pearl Harbor" vibes with incredibly unrealistic aircraft, excessive "action scenes" with hundreds of aircraft in one shot and "Hollywood Spectacularism" that is very, very Jerry Bruckheimer-ish. Just based on this trailer, it doesn't have the same vibe or realism that BoB or The Pacific did. That doesn't bode well. I will still see it, but my expectations are extremely low. The storyline had better be top-notch, first class because the excessive and unrealistic action shots are very distracting and a huge detriment to the overall feel of the trailer.

Looks like there is a lot more drama to this series than the previous 2. I guess we shall just wait and see.

At 1:24 in the new trailer, there i IIs a wide shot of the crew standing in front of an (improbably) shot up fortress.

The composition, light and colors are something out of a Keith Farris painting.

A coincidence?
I think not.
If I'm correct, it means someone did some research (or bought his book...or went to the NASM).
