Lewis Air Legends P-39

Tue Nov 28, 2023 11:52 pm

I did a day trip to San Antonio, Texas today and parked at Signature North which is right next to his hangar and they had the P-39 out and were doing some engine runs on it. You can really hear the gear box even at a distance.

Hope you get to see it fly. I saw it arrive at Oshkosh two years ago. The Allison sounds a little different compared to the P-40 and Yak-3. Maybe because it is so small but it looks like a fast little scooter when moving through the air. A very neat and exceptionally rare sight.

I know, I waited on Signatures ramp for 30min's hoping to see it go but the keep running it briefly and then shutting it down.
