Mail Call Gunny

Sat Jun 24, 2006 12:29 pm

My youngest son Martin finally got the chance to meet the "Gunny" R. Lee Ermey yesterday here in Ohio at the Military Vehicle Display at Wright State Univ. He was a great person to talk with and spent time with each person that was in line for a autograph. The Gunny said that the History Channel is wanting to take him off...so he said to tell everyone to e-mail the History Channel and tell them no way. He is a great spokesperson for the Marine Corps. and his shows are the Best. !! Hooo Rah...!!

The History Ch must be out of their minds! Mail Call is by far one of the best shows on television!

The History Channel is crazy if they drop Mail Call......the Gunny makes that show worthwhile and I think that the Gunny lays out the pride of the Men and Women and the tools they use in our Armed Forces of today and yesterday.....

Even though I was never a Marine.....to those who were...

Semper Fi....Carry On

He seems like a great guy and an interesting actor. Sorry to hear about THC pulling him. But I did notice that at MAAM WWII weekend, there were several times where I saw the line to tour CWH's Lancaster was longer than the line to see him. I was kind of hoping that when the crowd lost interest in the Lancaster and went to see him, I'd be able to get inside the airplane, but no luck.

Sadly, that’s exactly what History Channel is looking to do. They are currently wrapping up season 8, and the history channel has already told the production company they are not going to be ordering any more after that. I personally know the co-creator of Mail Call and have even been a guest on the show on camera:

Oh, check out this neat B-24 mockup that is housed very close by the set:

Thanks for the link as I have sent in my comments as well. Where is the set located at?

Looks like Indian Dunes, CA where Blacksheep was filmed.

The B-24 "mock-up" looks pretty good. It would look good on my front lawn

I got my picture taken with the Gunney in Dayton, too. He's a nice guy,and as was previously stated he took time to talk to everyone, unlike some of those posers who act like they are doing a favor if they sign something for you.

Same here...I wanted to use Gunny's way of conveying the message to THC, but figured I should tone it down and be as polite as possible. I wouldn't want one of the "suits" at A&E (which owns The History Channel) to get offended by me using some of R. Lee Ermey's salty talk!
