I spent a few hours watching various videos and looking at books - I am pretty sure that what this guy has come across is a B32 The dimensions and details I observed are clearly in this class of Aircraft, particularly the tail profile and turret placement as well as wing profile.

Of course it might have been one of the two P-61's hidden in a Manchester scrapyard that were guarded by Paul Allen's secret police force...

There's a story I read a wile back concerning one of the last aerial actions
over Japan in an account by Saburo Sakai. I believe it was August 17 or
18, 1945 he claimed they attacked a B-32. Due to low fuel or expended
ammo, they broke off the attack and last saw the B-32 low over the water
departing near the Izu Islands.

Has this story been vetted? If it was a B-32 departing Japan over the Izu's
wouldn't that put in a return flight track to Tinian? Just thinking out loud here....

Okay Folks,

Sao let me clairfie my involvement in this whole thing yes about thre or four years ago when the discovery of the B-32 was announce I contacted the folks who found it and ask for more information, at the same time I contacted the USAFM about doing a recovery they were very interested in this but they didn't have any $$$ I put together a propusal and came up with a total cost of around 4 Million for the recovery.

Now two days ago I sent off a request to Maxwell AFB to get all of the B-32 records so we can finally figure out what happen to all of them. My records show at least three aircraft might have never left Tinian.

As for the photos I only saw them once on the internet and that was a long time ago and quit franley I don't recall what the coundition of the aircraft was in. I've try to do a search both on the Old Forum and on Barnstormers but yet to come up with anything.

A couple points Rob...

1) In the KB-50 thread, you said that the "B-32" appeared to be in "very good shape." Now you're saying "quit franley I don't recall what the coundition of the aircraft was in." So which is it??? Did you vote for the 87 billion before you voted against it?

2) You said that when the discovery of the B-32 was "announced," you contacted the company that found it and asked for more information. Yet on page 2 of this thread, you were asking John if he remembered the name of the company that found her. So you're telling me you lost all of your contact information for this company, yet your immaculate "records" indicate "at least three aircraft might have never left Tinian." But from the original thread in 2003 you stated: "Aside from the one you found their were three other wrecks one that bellied on the North runway and burnt a second that was scrap due to combat damage and a third that ditch not to far off of the South Runway." So you went from 4 B-32's lost/destroyed in 2003 (not including 42-108528, which would make 5), to 3 B-32's now?? That's fuzzy math. You also started then that "only about 30 or so" B-32's were built, which is also incorrect.

Doesn't everyone find it a bit odd that this important and historical discovery didn't get any press? Not even in the warbird mags? Even the lake Mead B-29 made the national press! Strange, eh?

4) This business of "three aircraft might have never left Tinian." Why would they "leave" Tinian, when they were based out of Luzon (Clark Field), and later Okinawa? And if you're going to say something about them being scrapped, then why would they fly them all the way out to Tinian, and not back to Clark Field to be scrapped along with all the other birds?

5) You said that you are just now sending off a request for all the B-32 record cards and crash reports. Yet when you were "talking" to the USAFM and working hard on your $4mil recovery proposal, doesn't it seem odd that the USAFM didn't inquire as to the serial # of the "B-32" at hand? And not knowing the serial #, how is it that you determined that there were no soles still on board the A/C, and thus truly "recoverable?" I would think the serial # would be one of the first questions asked by the USAFM, especially for $4mil.

6) You can search the old board all you want (and Flypast), the mysterious pictures are not there. And Barnstormers??? Nothing was ever on Barnstormers about this, and why would it be? Was someone trying to sell it?

One more final note as this thread enters it’s twilight.....

I would just like to address those people out there who may feel I am being “unfair” for going after John (AKA Setter) and Rohr as hard as I am. The reason for this is very simple: a similar situation had taken place here once before. Does anyone remember the Midway Buffalo fiasco?

For those that weren’t here for that, basically Rohr was claiming there was an F2A wreck sitting in shallow water just off Eastern Island, Midway. Once again, he claimed to have seen satellite images that clearly showed the wreck to still be there. Oddly enough, no one else could find these satellite images, and even Rob himself couldn’t remember where he found them! Just like the B-32 pictures, I’m still waiting to see the Midway Buffalo picture.

Rohr claimed he had contacted the NHC about this wreck back in 1987, and was advised that they were going to look into it. Well, they did nothing. Fast forward to 2005, and Rohr decides to google midway island satellite images, and to quote him “…..and lo and beho sitting off the East Side is about 35 feet of water is said F2A.”

The whole reasoning behind this was to showcase the ineffectiveness, and perhaps even the “dereliction of duty” if you will, by the NHC when it came to saving our winged heritage. This created a bit of a firestorm on WIX, and soon the Midway Buffalo became a battle cry for change at the NHC. That’s when things really started to take off, as it suddenly was destined to become an official WIX project. “WIX Project #1” it was to be called. WIXers were going to call their senators, start a letter writing campaign, and seek the support of celebrities to help further their cause. All of this, so that the F2A could be recovered, preserved and saved for future generations.

That’s when I came in…….

I started to do much research on the matter, and guess what? THE WRECK WAS NOT THERE! And either were the satellite images Rob claimed to have seen.

Is everyone starting to see a pattern form here? Now just imagine if this “WIX project” had gone balls to the wall, only later to find out the wreck wasn’t even there? Imagine how that would have made the WIX and ALL of it’s members look? The same can be said for this latest B-32 nonsense. We all collectively, as being members of WIX, would have looked like idiots. I was not prepared to let that happen then, and I am not prepared to let that happen now.

And what of Rob Rohr and John Parker?

Rob’s last post states the following: “I'm not going to be doing anything avaiation till 2007 as a matter of fact I'm not going to be online that much either. I rather not discuss the reason if you wish to know Ken give me a call at home.”

What are we to make of this odd statement? Do those sound like the words of a man who shoots straight? Or are those the words of a man who got called on his BS? I’ll let the people decide.

And as for John…..

John my man, you need to go back through this thread and the KB-50 thread, and look at all the responses from people when faced with the possibility of a B-32 survivor. By their very nature, Warbirds are an emotional issue, and so are the people involved with them; be it those who are actually financially vested in them, or those who simply admire them from afar. What you did with this fantastic tale of a “pristine” B-32 sitting in an ocean trench is malicious to the fullest degree. You gave people hope, when there was none. You callously toyed with their emotions, and that is absolutely wrong. I am now starting to hear that this seems to be a “thing” with you, wild accounts of winged treasure tucked away in all corners of the world that only you know about. Shame on you John, shame on you.

In closing, I want everyone reading this to remember what happened here. The next time you see John Parker, AKA Setter posting a message anywhere about aeroplanes….REMEMBER THE B-32! Remember, the B-32……….

Great post Trevor. While this board is a fantastic source of information unfortunately it still falls prey to all of the inherant problems of anything on the internet where accountability is rarely a factor.

Why is it in the "real world" that if a stranger walks into the hangar and talks about all of his accomplishments and experience and then throws out some wild story the minute that person leaves everyone is left shaking their heads and chuckling. On the WIX board the complete opposite occurs - people almost automatically accept things as truth without question! "I read it on the internet, it must be true!"

Count me as one of the folks around here who would like to see some accountability when rumors are floated around.

What I'd really like John Parker to explain is this, where's the Lewis gun he promissed the collection where I work as a volunteer.
According to him it had been shipped--of course there was no paperwork preceeding it or confirmation from customs that it was sitting in bond (as he claimed and no Lewis Gun.

Or what about the Vietnamese R3350's he promissed another organisation I know, or the Syrian Spitfires he claimed knowledge of, or the P-38's burried in the Philipines.

It's a big ocean and the goverment does alot of cloak and dagger things so I keep an open mind. I don't take anything on the internet as gospel. Even if I knew where Bopyington's Corsair was, I wouldn't tell anyone and if I did I would mislead them. All I have found in life is there is a hint of truth in some well fabricated rumors. The only thing is to seperate the fly sheet from the pepper. Is the Flypast board down?
