Friedkin P-51's on the Move??

Mon Aug 11, 2025 2:10 pm

Buddy of mine said 2 P-51's showed up yesterday at our local airport (Eastern PA) requesting hangers for a few days. Sent me a few pics and turns out it's Fragile but Agile (N98CF) and Double Trouble Two (N7TF), and both have drop tanks on them (FBA has the larger 165s, which look cool!) Apparently, they are waiting for a new crew and they are headed over to Europe (someone said to new owners??).

Anyone hear anything?

Doesn't look like new owners from the FAA document index, but sometimes that's delayed. That would put Fragile & Double Trouble with Hun Hunter & Berlin Express in Europe if Dan is keeping them. The A-36, Princess Elizabeth, Frenesi, and Bum Steer will be in the US. (I think)

A pair of P-51Ds are sharing ramp space with the returning CAF Dakota at Narsarsuaq tonight... Looks like the CAF crew may be preparing to fly the next leg across to Canada - or just putting the bird to bed for the night. It's about 8.30pm there as I type this...

Yeah, both the P-51D 'Double Trouble Two' and P-51K 'Fragile but Agile' made their way from Goose Bay to Greenland earlier today. Both belonging to Dan Friedkin, 'Double Trouble Two' is sporting post-WWII 75-gal drop tanks, and 'Fragile but Agile' has post-WWII 110-gal drop tanks fitted for the trip. Lately, Dan Friedkin's two already-European-based Mustangs, 'Berlin Express' and 'Hun Hunter ~ Texas', have been hanging out with the Flying Bulls in Salzburg, Austria.

They left Narsarsuaq earlier this afternoon, accompanied by a Super King Air. Dak departed shortly after...

Both Mustangs, and their support ship (a Red Bull-owned King Air), arrived at Duxford this afternoon. Ultimately, they're headed to Salzburg, where The Flying Bulls are based, along with a couple of Friedkin's other Mustangs that are already there.

Glad to hear they made it safely!

Any idea why Friedkin bases aircraft in Europe?

He owns two football (soccer) teams over in Europe in Everton in the UK and AS Roma in Italy, so he seems to spend a lot of time over here so presume he likes some of his toys over here to play with. I believe 4 of his Spits are in the UK and most are/were at Duxford.

Also remember that Dan has a pretty well known production company and also is part of the Flying Horsemen demo team that has a 4-ship Mustang routine. The movement of additional P-51s to Europe, especially to Salzburg, could be for either or both of those reasons.

Will be interesting to see what happens. I don't see the Friedkin's selling anything anytime soon.

The two Mustangs arrived at Salzburg earlier today. Does anyone know if Berlin Express and Hun Hunter will be staying in Europe or returning to the United States?

I see his name in "The Landman" credits...
