Does anyone know if this Helldiver has been sold yet or if there has been any interest shown at all?

Thanks,

Mac

Thanks for the info, Richard. Hopefully she'll be bought by someone who'll put her back in the air.

Thanks again,

Mac

definetely a fixer upper. no joke in asking..... but seriously while i'm not "tool time tom" and barely know which end of hammer to use..... this wreck looks to be chewed up & spit out by godzilla!!! those of you on the thread that have restored warbirds, whats your feedback?? i've seen some ugly duckling basket cases restored, but this bird is absolutely mangled & twisted!!

Tom, I'm just an enthusiast like yourself, but look at the A-25A project and some more recent photos for an example of what can be done.

looking at the pictures of the aircraft, the color scheme looks alot like RN scheme on the TFC's Corsair in the UK. Is this aircraft a Ex RN Helldiver?

This helldiver was a US Navy aircraft, and was lost at Dahlgren, Virginia during torpedo trials. Yes, she is pretty banged up, but there have been a good number of aircraft returned to flight from these sorts of beginnings. Given her extraordinary rarety and historical significance, I'm sure she'll find a good home somewhere. She's also probably the only significant project out there which is legally available too. I'm sure Mike Rawson could make a flyer out of her with his experience on the remarkable restoration he's made with the A-25... she was in much worse shape at the beginning!

Richard

I've heard a rumour this bird has sold.
Anyone else hearing something similar?

Talked to the owner yesterday. There's a lot of interest, but it hasn't sold just yet.

Cheers,
Richard
