After much internally wrangling & thought, it is with a heavy heart that I feel I must issue a warning about Jack Cook.

When I was young, I was crazy about all WWII A/C. I made the usual models of the B-17 & P-51 & had the usual books on the subject, mainly the ETO.

That all changed when I first saw Baa Baa Blacksheep! I fell in love with the Corsair & WWII Naval Aviation. I got rid of all my ETO books & never gave the Mustang another thought. Of course, I was able to admit that the Mustang was a pretty plane. But a prissy little fighter like that could never hold a candle to the brute strength looks of the Corsair & Hellcat. It's like comparing a pretty boy boxer like Oscar De La Hoya to a Mike Tyson.

I was happy (some would say, in my ignorance), just doing research on Naval Aviation. And then about two years ago I started lurking here. Ever since then, Jack has been trying to brainwash me into becoming a Mustang freak (like so many of you mindless P-51 robots out there), by his incessant posting of so many P-51 Ace shots & P-51 noseart photos!!

I've been strong. I've ignored the constant bombardment of P-51s, P-51s & more P-51s...until now!! I must admit that Jack has finally won. I've been hit with Mustang Fever. I'm even starting to buy a few Mustang books.

So, I'm warning everbody out there who doesn't already have Mustang Fever, if you see any posts by Jack Cook along the lines of:

"More Photos From The Collection......."
"Noseart!!"
"P-51s at War!"

Ignore them, don't open them!! No matter how strong you think you are, you simply can't resist Jack and how darn gorgeous the P-51 is!! Besides Jack has over 12,000 photos & I wouldn't be surprised if 10,000 are P-51s. He simply has way to much ammo, whatever body armor you have, it just won't be good enough.

Ok, Jack! Bring em on, I'm ready for more.

Mac

Actually the P-40 is my favorite with the P-51 & F4U
tied for 2nd.
But really makes me love them all is the guys that
flew and maintained them. Without them the planes
would have no real meaning.

True, so true! Jack has helped me out several times now, and I plan on using and abusing him further with future projects!

Fifty-One's have had a 'hold' on me for quite a while now ... that's why I keep painting the thang over and over again! In fact, here's a sketch I posted just yesterday on a few aviation art sites. It's a commission piece which will tax my Descriptive Geometry skills:

Thanks for the warning, but...his posts have had absolutely no effect on me. It'll take a better man to EVER lure me away from my beloved P-38.

Mudge the fork-tailed devil

(Or is it "Fork-tongued devil? I can never remember.)

I'm sorry but, it isn't a real airplane unless it has a round engine!
