Bill Compton's F6F-3 b/n 08825 will be going to the new museum at Pearl Harbor. It will be rebuilt here being being transfered to Hawaii. This airplane was flown by LT Jim Ritchie of VF-37 on the escort carrier Sagamon who downed 2 planes while flying it. Would have been nice to have seen her fly again.

There must be some serious $ behind this Pearl museum. Just a shame it's sucking up so many potential (Zero, and now F6F) and actual (F4F) flyers.

I'm surprised at the Compton F6F being sold on, saddened that it won't fly again. :(

Only one person could have gotten Bill to make the deal and the
deal had strings (not $$ but personal ones). That planes been a part of my life out here for at least 35 years. I hope the FM-2 stays out here.
