Saturday for myself was a familly day with the kids and Sunday was the photo tour and pit pass day. But with all the angry people I had to hear on Saturday swearing at each other I decided to not bother with Sunday.

You should have bothered, especially since you paid for it! You would have had a great time. Everyone I met in the photo pit was very civil to each other...and downright friendly. The atmosphere there was relaxed and comfortable, with plenty of room to stretch out, enjoy the free water, and chat to others during the slow periods.

On Sunday, the attendance in the photo pit was maybe 75% of what it was on Saturday, so there was even more room to spread out.

Hindsight is 20/20. Sometimes the small kinks in the show aren't apparent until it's too late. I'm sure the YAM people will continue to refine and improve upon the show. The reactions of a few rowdy people near the B-52 don't reflect on the YAM...they just reflect on how poorly some people behave when they don't get everything they want.

Join us in the photo pit next time!

RE. No-shows;1st. How activily is the plane flown? Some are complete, but not ready to go without more work. Some spend much of their time on museum static display. If the owner is not the pilot, or the organization has other planes, a rarer type may not get priorty maintenance. 2nd. The expense of long distance cross country flying is large. For me round trip Co.to Yip is about 10 hours or $2500 just for fuel and oil, plus perhaps $1000 for motels, food, etc enroute, especially if there are weather delays. Think of bringing a Skyraider from Houston or Spit from California! Despite this, I am sorry we did not get 6 or 7 Spits to Yip. We tried for weeks to get needed rare parts. In 23 years this is the 1st. time I've missed major shows due to an unforseen problem. YAM invited us, and they had a number of other major types. It's hard to believe, but there are even folks that like to hear those diesel burners. Ain't no accounting for taste! Perhaps planes are like music, what if there was only Britney, no Dylan, Bethoven, or Hank Williams? Bill

You are correct, spending time with fellow WIXers this year at the shows I attended has been a real pleasure for myself, I really can,t imagine doing Air Shows with out being in the presents of these fine folks. As for bringing my kids on longer road trips, me and my wife decided to not bring them next year to long road trip shows, I will just take them to the local events since Ontario does have a good collection of Warbirds for them to see.

Very True and I hope in my post that people here and the YAM people don't think I blame them for the people in question because that definatly was not my intention.

Another advantage to not having to carry around camera gear like the rest of us saps in the hot weather

Hey guys- I have been away for a while and have just been catching up on the rantings of Netwerk -all I can say to him is "You will be as happy as you make up your mind to be" .

I experienced the hospitality and can do attitude of the YAM folks last year and I can honestly say that if there were problems they were most likely beyond there control and that if issues are presented to them in a constructive way I am sure they will do everytihing in there power to fix them down teh road.
