A few years ago in either Warbirds or Air Classics there was a small artical on a B-17E that was displayed outside in I think California, or someplace out west. It looked in really good shape. IT was NMF with the old USAAC signia on it. The artical stated there was money trying to be saved to put her back in the air. Does anyone know what this one is and what the status of it is?

Thanks.

There's only one B-17E that this could have been, as neither of the other two survivors in the US were complete, or in natural metal finish. That would be 41-9210 which was restored to flyable condition by the Whittington brothers, and in recent years, sold on to Paul Allen. She is now being restored to stock, flying condition.

Cheers. Richard
