OKC B-47E

Sun Aug 27, 2006 9:54 pm

Because a couple of folks asked, here are some pictures of the pole-mounted B-47E currently at the Oklahoma City Fair Park. Several of the pics were taken from the ground, and a couple of them were taken from a cherry-picker that we used to get a better look at the engines and into the cockpit. Final verdict: the engines were removed long ago, along with most of everything in the cockpit.

To answer another question, the Fair Park does want the aircraft moved, and the NMUSAF and others are currently working on finding it a good home. Enjoy.

The NMUSAF can send it 4500 miles NE to the UK ,we need a B-47 here as they served at 2 bases , Brize Norton & Greenham Common & it would be a great addition to the USAF types that is sadly missed

Doc will be done soon, bring her to the Boeing plant and restore to airworthy status. It'd be a hit at Oshkosh.
