no I dont.............. believe that there used in a stearman also. Its cone shaped, with a shaft sticking out at the top, has a U shaped bracket at the end for a control rod to turn it off by rotation. there is a cover at the opposite end with, if I remember right 5 screws.

There is a internal part that is cork, we had it apart dried it out to get it to swell back up........worked for a few yrs........but now there is a grove worn in the cork and it will not shut off the flow of fuel.

I think I know the one you're talking about. I'll dig through some manuals to see if I can find a photo or drawing. Then I'll look in our piles of parts to see if I can help.

Do you have any actual part numbers ? The AN-4001 # doesn't get a hit.

Yep, thats the critter................Eric, if you find one. Open it up and see what the cork looks like...........It may be dry but maybe we can "massage" it back to life.

Some of the N owners have gotten rid of the cork and gone with teflon.

Jeff, I’m almost positive that the cork in my valves is in the same shape.

A while back someone had a run of OHC original valves with new taper corks and gasket. Yellow tagged exchange for $175. Someone else had some new corks for around $75.

If you like, I’ll check and see what they currently have. This is a chronic problem with these valves.

You could try Air Repair at 662-843-0803, or planepartsforsale.com. Some people are going with a 1/2" steel ball valve that eliminates the problem once and for all. I undersatnd that it is PMA'd for use on Pipers.

Hope this helps.

Well Jeff, I don't know if I'm going to be able to be much help to you on my end. I've looked through the area I swear I've seen a pile of those valves (new, old stock), but couldn't find them now. If I do stumble across it, I'll let you know. Otherwise, sorry I couldn't help.

Looks like we have a good lead on one, I'll keep you all posted. Think a fellow N owner is going to bail us out. Its amazing on how everyone comes together in the warbird industry.

That just happened again a couple of weekends ago. Collings Foundation was up here with the TBM and the F4U. The TBM crapped out a fuel boost pump. A call was made to my uncle and he happened to have a OVH'd pump on the shelf. He gave it to them in trade for the old one. They also promissed him a ride in one of the airplanes at anytime. But I know my uncle, he will never cash that in.
