Hello;

We are on Yap Island right now searching for American planes lost during the war including my uncle's plane. A list of all the planes lost near Yap is located at the following link: http://www.missingaircrew.com/yap/yapmissions.asp

We are on Yap from September 13-29 searching for the planes. Over the last two days we have located a large wreckage area in the harbor that matches the location of the Anthony B-24 crew: http://www.missingaircrew.com/yap/mac/10aug1944.asp. The Anthony plane was hit by AA fire and crashed in the harbor. The wreckage is broken up over a large area in the harbor. I would appreciate anyone's help to review the pictures I have uploaded from the wreckage area we located. Please let me know if anyone can match any of the pieces to a B-24.

I have a few people helping to ID the parts already and would greatly appreciate any additional help to try and match pieces of this wreckage field to B-24 parts. We have found English writing on pieces.

MACR #10023. My uncle, John R. McCullough, 307th Bomb Group, was shot down near Yap Island and declared MIA/KIA on 25 June 44

I have uploaded additional images from some of the pieces we have retrieved from the B-24 crash site in the harbor. The pictures can be viewed at the following link:

I would welcome anyone's thoughts about the parts in the pictures. The goal is top match them to B-24 parts:

2453 and 2454 look like a piece from an engine cowling. Does the structure on the backside (2454) look like the inside of a cowling?

2457, 2458, and 2459 are a cylinder off one of the engines.

2464, 2465, and 2466: This piece has writing on it stating, “FLOW DIRECTION”. This piece was attached to the piping pieces, 2469 and 2470.

2467 and 2468: Look like a radio box from the radio area.

2464-66 is a fuel/oil shutoff valve that was used in alot of US WWII bombers, the B-17 had them installed on the Tokyo tanks. The B-24 most likely had them as well.
