Work for flight condition is started during august:
-Change 1 engine Pratt & Whitney R-1830 92S,
-Overhauled the 2 Propellers,
-Control cables, landing gear....

Hi,

It's with the B-17 Pink Lady in the same hangar.

No idea of it's future color.
I prefer to see it in RCAF color during WW2 but we don't know it's real camo during the war. I don't find any pics of this Canso during this period.

I don't have any information about it's future.
Only said that they are working for flight condition.

Would you know if there is a former Canadian Warplane Heritage AME working on that PBY? An employee of CWH recently left for France to work on the restoration of a warbird, which I believe was a PBY?

nice blisters!! is it true that restored cats don't have the original nose gun turret because of insurance issues?? i also read that some cats can't be insured for water landings. true??

According to Warbirds Directory #4 this PBY sank U-342 while part of 162 Sqn RCAF

Hi,

Yes, one CWH Employe is here and work on the Cat.

This Cat sunk the U-342 on 17 april 1944 when used by the 162 Sqn of the RCAF.

This Cat is not for the Israeli Airforce Museum. I understand that an another Cat is at Beauvais with problem engine, but know is real statut.

My father flies right seat from time to time between 2 PBY's based in Tamami Fla. I had asked if they were able to do water landings. He said yes with a bit of work. They did do it once but almost lost the airplane due to leaking seals in the nose gear area. He told me that the PBY had a high accident rate in water landings durring ww2. He even said that water landings where a higher loss rate than combat losses. So on that note, Ins companys want a arm and a leg to insure them for the water.

I do remember the incident of the french PBY that escorted connie edwards on his NC4 trip. Maybe that also has something to do with it.........or the bouy that wandered into the landing path.
