This storage yard with 20-30 T-28s was talked about a while back
but OP wanted to go there but couldn't find out who owned the place or exactly where it was.
Well, John Gibson dropped me a email asking about some photos I had of some of his T-28s in the yard.
The question is OP, what's the info worth to ya???

Hi Jack!

Jason gave me the number awhile back. That was pretty cool. Mr Gibson also had an add in barstormers a few weeks ago and I took down the info again. There are a lot of projects out there currently, thats good for me anyway.

One thing I've heard about Mr Gibson is that he will sell a project a piece at a time so you can afford it, and it will all be from the same plane. I don't know if that is true or not, but it is a nice thought.

Here is a sea story I heard once. Chuck in camarillo had pretty much a lock on T28's. Then, the last big batch of gubmint T-28s was coming to auction. If he got them, he would be as big as Lance. So he heads out to the auction, intending to have them, and two brothers named Gibson outbid him. Pretty much removing the absolute lock on the market.

I don't know if that is true or not either, but I like that story too.

What would be worth something to me is, where are the planes actually at? Nevada? Missouri?

And, Can we see your pictures of them too?

I've been meaning to call, and ask if the stories are true, but I don't want to be the tire kicking dud wasting his time. I'll ask the questions when I'm ready to buy. If you're talking to him, tell him I'm sending a bud his way for a prop govenor.

Thanks for thinking of me Jack! If you have any info about Mr Gibson and the planes you can share, that would be very cool. And, Pictures! Please! :D

Maybe this won't apply to this discussion, but some buds and I took at trip down to Baton Rouge, LA in the late 80s to visit with a gent named Don Weber (?). He had more than a few T-28s disassembled, and one flyable. He also had a flyable P-51D. I distinctly remember the T-28 because he fired it up for us. I also remember him saying that he was going to put all his parts together and sell "flyable" Trojans.

Fast forward to the late 1990s when, as a very active Flight Instructor I made XCs to BR several times - no sign of the Weber operation that I could see.

Nope, VAM is a top notch facility in Victoria, BC who have a number of trophy winners under their belts inc Doc Sugen's T-2J Buckeye. TheT-28s are just laying in a fenced compound in NV.

Don Weber had a B-25 which is in Europe which is flying in Europe has "Sabrina" (?) and a P-51D named "Buster" in 361st FG markings.

Back in June 2001, when I was very close to buying the 3 ex-FAM T-28s in Boerne, I had a few e-mails and telephone conversation exchanged with John Gibson; he was interested in purchasing some of the parts and made a trip and bought I don't know what.

His T-28s are located in Henderson, NV, which is SE from las Vegas.

I'm sure you guys have his telephone and e-mail address, but if you don't, please PM and I will provide them to you.

The photos of the Buckeyes remind me of the ones at the TICO airport,
behind the VAC hangar.

I'd be interested in finding out more info on the boneyard in the photos as well as any info on the airplanes in TICO, I'm always looking for T2 Buckeye stuff to maintain our flyable one.

I do not have any specifics on the location in Nevada, but I have a phone number for John.

Re: VAC's T-2s, I have published some of the pictures here in the past; from what I recall, they looked pretty much gutted, and probably would have been used to produce a complete non-flyable display aircraft.
