Yesterday, on Idaho's HWY 19, west of Caldwell and just past the Simplot Potato processing plant:

This was a private airfield and ranch, that has been sold, and according to what the guy there told me, there were 14 different antique aircraft based there.

All of them have been sold, and the UC-78, is going to Canada, where a Canadian has purchased it for full restoration.

No serial, no N-number.

Saludos,

Tulio

Sorry, Fleet one-six, I just saw your posting.

No, the guy did not tell me the name of the Canadian buyer.

What he said was, that the buyer is young and rich, so the restoration expenses wouldn't be a problem for him

The guy I talked with, was the owner of the ranch / landing strip, and told me that they have also sold the property and moving west, to another ranch they have purchased.

Saludos,

Tulio

Very cool. Thanks for posting.

I bet everyone here suspects Michael Potter as the buyer. I can say with 95% confidence it is not Mr. Potter. Vintage Wings wants to expand their staff, and finish the Hurricane Mk XII before considering anything else.

If anyone hears anything more please post here.

Mike

I only know of one of the projects; the one that I got. It is a 1931 Curtiss-Wright Travel Air model 12W. Here is the link on the Radial Engines web site.

http://www.radialengines.com/aircraft_p ... index.html

This aircraft was the first model 12W built (the second model 12, s/n 12W-2002, the first was a model 12Q with a Wright Gypsy engine).

It came with a 165 Warner, and was originally equiped with a 125 Warner. I currently have it stripped down to the frame and an working on getting it all fixed up and back together. Hopefully it will be ready to fly in 2 to 3 years time.

Matt
