If only airplanes were this prestine when they come out of the water 60 years later. http://englishrussia.com/?p=299#more-299

This is really cool, but I am not buying it when they said they were able to start the diesel engine.

cool

If only they DID find planes like that! amazing condition.

I did not read the whole article, but this tidbit was a heading underneath one of the pictures about 3/4 of the way down: "after a small repair and service they were able to start it’s diesel engine."

Unbelievable photos  thanks for sharing them!!!

I remember hearing about another T-34 in superb condition being pulled from a Russian bog a number of years back.

Unreal!

I doubt they were able to start the motor, but I bet it turned over without much coaxing. Bogs are really funny places. Very low oxygen concetrations and funny acid levels make them strangely ideal places for preservation.

Plus, they give hope to nerds like us that those every-elusive treasures are still out there.

Makes you wonder how many tanks and other WW2 vehicles are out there just waiting to be found!

Some great "found" stories can be found at these two places. The first is vehicle specific whereas the other is not. Some great reading at both places however. Apologies if these have been posted before.

Thanks for those links Warhawk. There is some very interesting stuff there. As a sidebar I remember a WW1 tank was dug up out of a battlefield a few years ago. It was still in good condition amazingly!

Makes you wonder what other "treasures" exist in some of these third world countries, just waiting to be discovered. 8)
