Thought I start this as a new thread from what I posted in the Tinker B-29 thread.

The Tinker B-29 was one of many B-29s stored at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. From 1955-1985 according to the Registry. Does anyone have photos of the B-29s while stored at Aberdeen Proving Grounds?

Any photos floating around?

Have you seen these ? , pics seem very rare.

Goggle Earth stopped working for me, any hints on getting back?

Almost all of the Google images of the APG are the low resolution ones, with no ability to see details. Some of the SW portion of the area is clear, but didn't see any evidence of aircraft anywhere there. Both of the airfields are in the low-res portions.

No G.E. images , then try http://local.live.com/, it looks low res. till you get close in & then it changes to high res.
Hopefully pic will show below ,to the west of north airfield are 2x C-130 , F-4's + lots of other jets + ??? in woods between test area & airfield

I was there about ten years ago, and there were a lot of interesting items. Sadly, I was not allowed to take any photographs. I did make a note of all the serial numbers I could find though. Not sure where I put the list, but there were a substantial amount of airframes. Mostly early sixties to mid-seventies vintage fighters. Several of most of the prominent types from F-105's, A-7's, F-104's, F-4's. The oldest aircraft seemed to be a C-54. None of the B-29's remained, or so we were told.

I found a row of 11 US Navy T-28's actually in the trees, with small 3" saplings growing around them. They all looked to be in pretty good condition, and could have been returned to flying condition.

There were several unusual types though, including a Mil-24 Hind E. Perhaps the most interesting airframes though were a Curtiss-Wright X-19, Boeing YUH-61A, and several test frames from the Lockheed YAH-56 Cheyenne. Several of these airframes were unique survivors, and I really hope that they were saved.

I wish that I could have taken photographs!!!

Yes, Fiat12x2, thanks for the link. I looked at it and you can identify the two C-130's, and some of the F-4's, but even in this site the resolution is not as good as the high res ones on Google Earth.

By the way, the location of the planes is west of the airfield, not east. I looked at the area east of the field for quite a while before taking the coordinates and looking them up. Should have done that first.

Ooopps I think I must have been thinking east of the test site
Every few months GE adds more high res. areas , so hopefully its just a matter of time before we get high res.
