Need Photos of Aircraft and Engine Data Plates and get a ...

Mon Oct 02, 2006 7:40 pm

I'm trying to expand my collection of aircraft dataplates (others collect some weirder things), since we have a number of people here who are mechanics (my father was an A&P), I'd appreciate your help. I need fairly high resolution photos with something for a scale (such as holding a dollar bill next to it). Not only do I collect pics, but havea friend who makes reproductions of them.

I'll be happy to trade you a "new" dataplate for a pic of something we don't have (same one you sent in or something else -- P-51, RR Merlin; GE 7.62 Minigun, A-10 to name a few...)

Just email me direct.

Thanks

Recently Vintage Wings of Canada obtained a spare Merlin along with the Hurricane Mk XII. You can find a picture of it here...

Did they have pop rivets like that in 1940?

that martin B-26 is not original, a number of yrs ago all aircraft were required to have a external ID plate added, I guess so they could read a serial number without looking inside the plane.

They’re supposed to be stainless as well, for ID purposes after a crash/fire.
