Was that the movie were the soldiers were behind Russian lines and had to make their way back? When they got to the German lines, the password was supposed to be "Demarcation"?

It's been awhile since I've seen the movie "Cross of Iron", but I think you're correct on this. If I also remember correctly one of the german officers ends up mowing down a bunch of Steiner's men (played by James Colburn) as they're trying to enter german lines.
I still remember the most graphic part of the movie where the one german soldier gets his "crank" bitten off by the russian female soldier.

If I'm not mistaken. They were also given Spitfires, Hurricanes as well as a handfull of early P-51s.
