Wings Over Houston

Fri Oct 20, 2006 11:11 am

This Sat. and Sun. at Ellington Field...
You know the one...
Where Claire Chennault flew with the 1st Fighter Squadron, back in the day!

Look for me at "The Royal" Jet Provost MK5A...
Or the North PX
or drooling all over OPAs.
:D

The new Scimitar props are a modification done to prexisting airframes. They are replacing the original 4 bladed Hamilton Standard props for which the stocks of are nearly depleted and are unable to make new due to costs and effiency. So a new better option was sought. The programme to replace the old props with the Scimitars has been ongoing for several years now.

Ahhh..thanks Rick. Any idea when "My Mary Lou" will emerge from the shop?
"Special Delivery" went by yesterday, up close and personal heading upshore. Sweeeet!

Glad to see the rain has cleared, looks like sunny blue sky for now.

No, Airnutz, not sure when My Mary lou will get back in the mix.

I understand Joe Niemer had Spirit of Waco wound up today. Reg Urschler tried to catch him in Gunfighter but it never happened. Nothing like an A-26 being flown the way they should be. :D

Most airbosses stick them with the B-25s and severely cramp the A-26's style !

The A-26 came over my house this afternoon (I live downtown Houston under the VFR corridor). He was low and hauling. The bird was really moving. It was most impressive.

A B-25 and BE18/C-45 came over a bit later and they just lumbered along.

After his routine the A-26 didn't land..kept looking for him, but figured he headed
on home. Thanks for the confirmation DB2. I really enjoyed his flying last year.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not whining. I was just in a better position last year
at the west end and I figure the sound of the A-26 at full-tilt funneled its way
to me echoing off the the end hangar and fuel storage tanks. WOO-HOO!
This year, security was sitting where I was last year..so I took it across the
street. I was still in a great spot this time..just different. Bearcat really ripped it up.

Heritage Flight was pretty sharp. Did anyone get a shot of Gunfighter cutting the
smoke ring??
