I would've landed and changed my pants right away. Notice the announcer stops speaking, uncertain of what outcome would unfold. I can't believe the prop did not strike!

The markings almost look like this YAK:

Any idea who's it is? Those pictures were taken at Langley AFB in 2004. I would have guessed Yagen's / Fighter Factory's but I thought their's was blue.

Yippes!!!
Anybody know where and when?
He may have recovered off the runway, over a lower spot in the grass.

We did this a couple of years ago, and it all got rather heated. Dan McCue, I believe. A VERY lucky man.

I don't think I would have done that roll after that pullout....

Lucky guy.

That is a Yak 9-UM that used to belong to a couple of guys out of Memphis. I maintained that airplane for years. It was purchased by a fella out of Alabama and he was letting some folks up in the northern states use it for that airshow right after he bought it. This was certainly a close call.

The airplane is based back in Alabama now.

Maybe I am too paranoid about things that come off the Internet. Does it appear that the Yak seems to "jump" up a bit after the bottom of the pull up? And the announcer didn't say a thing about him being unusually low at the base of the maneuver? Lack of prop damage?
Could someone have doctored the video?
Just a thought.

No doctoring. It's all real. It happened at Andrews a few years ago.

Yep, definitely real video. No damage to the airplane.

I believe it was Sean Caroll and not Dangerous Dan.

You may well be right Ollie. I remember the last thread a couple of years back, Col.Rohr got involved and it all got very heated. I'm going from memory, as it looks as though the thread got pulled as I couldn't find anything through the search facility.
