Today we flew the Harvard to the local air force squadron's base in order to leave her in their care. The reason? 438 Sqn. is celebrating their 60th year since their return from Europe and they needed a Harvard to keep company to a CH-146 Griffon (Griffin T.1) either side of the hounour guest s table.

Once we were sure she was all well for her week away from her home, the air force flew us back in a helicopter. It was very fun to actually ride in a "medium" helo, much bigger than my usual Robinsons!

No stick time, just a ride, and yes, they'll be flying us back on Monday.

So there was the bal, and there was lots of rejoicing, but this morning the CO flew in with a CH-146 to pick us up for the trip back.

We readied the Harvard, briefed the flight and off we went...

It was very nice to be escorted to our base by the Griffon, in which two NCOs took pictures and filmed the scene. I did get a few good ones too from the back seat!

Thank you 438 Sqn. for that nice experience!

Canadians are strange creatures aren't they? The land of lakes and every second house has a pool.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Hi: If youve ever swam or dove in a Canadian Lake you would know why there are so many pools. Kind hard to heat up a lake!!

+ if you consider that our typical summer only lasts 2.5 weeks

Actually those are personal backyard ice rings for Canadian winter hockey. Haha.

You can even do some ice fishing if you are patient enough.

Glad you had fun Olivier.

Great photo's! Thanks for sharing'em. :D

The old gal looks good sitting in a Air Force hanger. (I bet she loved being on an active duty base again too).
