How it started for me. Reese AFB 1977

Thu Nov 02, 2006 12:17 am

My parents took us to the Reese AFB airshow in Lubbock, Texas in 1977. I was four years old. My dad asked the folks with the B-25 when they would be flying and he was told that they wouldn't be. They said nobody wanted to see the old stuff anymore, all anyone cared about was jets. All the planes were roped off but one of the warbird guys told my parents to bring us across the rope so we could get our picture made in front of Joe Mabee's P-40.

This was the start of my love of aviation.

This is Cool!
I lived in Lubbock until 1979 and always begged to go to the Reese show. I can't find any pictures of 1977 but I do have a few pictures of the 1978 Airshow at Reese.
Thunderbirds were there...flying T-38's.

Small World.

And people say that warbird shows don't draw folks into the military!
