If you could, with the benifit of hindsight, go back in time, would you do the Vietnam War again, if the result is the same?
No, of course not. I would not let the country be swayed by the likes of John Kerry and Jane Fonda and I would win the war. Do you think that the US entered the war in Iraq with the expectation of losing? Did John Kerry vote for the war with the expectation of losing before he voted against it?

If we stay in Iraq for the reasonable future, perhaps another year or 2, do you really believe that we are going to "win" in any sense of setting up any sort of democratic society friendly to US?
Not in a year or two. How long did we occupy Japan and Germany after WW2? Was that war worth fighting? Only the losers of the war are seeking an exit strategy and they are being hailed by the terrorists as living up to expectations. Cut and run. That's what the US did in Vietnam and what the Democraps want us to do now in Iraq. History has shown that the radical Islamists can wait out Western powers because war is unpopular in free countries.
Bill Clinton didn't even get to a point where he could put his tail between his legs and cut and run. He just made enough smoke to convince his constituents that he was doing something, but he taught the terrorists that the US had no resolve whatsoever. This empowered them to move on to bigger and better things like 9/11.
Can't say what effect the election will have on the war, but guess which party the terrorists were rooting for?
