Russian plane and pilot, don't know so will guess, Valery Chkalov who with Alexander Belyakov and Georgiy Baidukov flew no-stop from Moscow in 62 hours to the US in June 1937 and landed at Pearson Field, Vancouver, WA. He's called the Russian Linbergh.

It's not Northrop's Gamma D-2 with TWA's Jack Frye at the controls is it?

Jack;
Is it D.W. "Tommy" Tomlinson in the seat?
If it is, I should've noticed the instrument attached to the windscreen. I think he did some high altitude work in the plane.

Cool shot!

I couldn't find any pictures of him on-line...I think I saw that mug in connection to the DC-1? in a book.

Yup, that's Tommy. what a awesome guy! The stuff legends are made of.
He lived just a couple miles away from me and I visited him regularly until he passed. He gave me a bunch of photos and a book of his stories and experiences of which they had only 20 copies made!
He made about 5 first flights among other things.
