I recognize the B-25 from Troutdale. Is the A-26 one of the two that sat across (east end) the field at Salem in the mid-late 60's? There was an all black one as well. Also a stripped out T-33 hulk.

Did you ever get photos of the Monocoupe 90 and the 1929 Davis D-1K, NC77N, that Don Metheney had out on his "farm" in Brooks I think. The Monocoupe was retrieved at McNary Field by an angry Metheney one evening in 1965-66, I think, where he had it in a back corner. Salem Aviation was tearing the old hangar down (as I recall) and had called him repeatedly that he needed to come get it. He was out there with a trailer or flatbed swinging a shotgun around and making very angry threats. Quite a dramatic scene as I remember people telling the story.

How about some 1960's vintage shots of Bob Morrow's P-51D, N210D or his other Mustang?

Jack;
Is that PBY in the first photo the one from North Carolina off the old NAS base?

I know that "bird" N5PY? The 4 engined PBY.

I saw it in Albuquerque a few years ago...I'll have to dig out my pictures.

Jack:

Is that a Kawasaki Ki-61 Hein in images 3 and 4? If so, I'd love to know where it was and when. Thanks again for some great images. Fly safe.

Yes, that was in David T's compound at Chino about 1986.

It must have been more than a few years ago. Ron Ruble has has her in aurora, OR for at least 10 years. He started reconverting her to stock but then got a out-of-state flying job. So she sits out in the weather. Hearld they might be working on her again so will have to check it out.

No, That was behind a military themed restaurant in Jacksonville, FL around 1987.

Bob Sturges "Dirty Gertie From Birzerte" later sold her Aero Trader

Possibly, This was Holly's Fletcher's (Aeroflite) A-26 Waterbomber at Troudale flown by Jim Byers who also flew the A-24 bugsprayer.

Sure looks like him.

The Ki-61 was owned by Frank Taylor for a while (he owned Dago Red) and then sold on to Kermit Weeks.

Picture #2 I recognize as Tallichet's compound in Chino.

The solid nose B-25 is in front of Aero Trader in Chino.

I remember well our earlier mails regarding N210D. Which other 51 did Morrow own?

I'll have to check but they were both registered to
Contractors Equiptment Company. Bob also owned 2 SNJ-5s...
N3642F which crashed fatally in CO a couple of years ago
and N5488V B/N 51789 now owned by Paul Faultyn in NY.
88V is the J I grew-up with.

In 1965 when I moved to Salem as a ten year old Bob had only N210D. It was usually parked then next to (just north of) the then new Salem Aviation building.

I am attaching a photo here taken in 1966. I am the taller kid and Danny Wilgus is the shorter.

I will have to check in the basement for the identity of the other Mustang he had. I think it was N5077K which I as I recall became N711UP when a new owner in Aurora, OR got it. Jim Fugate???
