Hi!

Does anyone knows what is planned there? Is the Spit back from the States?

So nobody know nothing?

On the museum's website they say that a ceremony will be held, does anyone knows when and what will they do then?

:?:

Ollie,

I read on the "Geneseo Corn Roast" thread that Mr. Potter's Spitfire is still in Geneseo as of last weekend.
I would say that there is a good chance that there will be some sort of flypast. Michael Potter will probably put something up in the air as he has great respect for veterans. Thats my guess anyway.

At one time there was a plan for the Canadian Harvards to fly with Mike and the Spit at Ottawa but even that has been scrubed and the Harvards will not make the trip.

I received the following from the Canada Aviation Museum this morning.

I'll see if Catherine is interested.

Regards,

Mike

Dear Mr. Henniger,

Canada's Air Force is organizing this year's Battle of Britain
commemorative ceremony and parade which will take place at the Canada
Aviation Museum this Sunday, September 19, 2004 at 10:00 am. The public is
welcome to join in the observation of this important occasion which will
also feature serving and vintage aircraft flypasts, including Michael
Potter's Supermarine Spitfire, a Lancaster Bomber, a DC-3, 4 CF-18s flying
the missing man formation, CC-144 Challengers and CH-146 Griffon
helicopters, both with Second World War markings. The ceremony will
continue rain or shine. Members of the public are encouraged to bring a
lawn chair or an umbrella as required.

Best regards,

It would seem that it is unlikely we will see SL721 there.

Hi guys,

I wasn't sure about making it, but with a line up like that, even if the Spitfire doesn't make it, I'm gonna try to be there. Only problem is that it is also my wife's birthday, and she does not share my interest. Hmmm.... how to break the news ?!!

Either diamonds, or knock the Honey-Do list down by half. And for good measure start sucking up now!

I see that DND posted an updated press release, dated yesterday.

http://www.airforce.forces.gc.ca/news/2004/09/16_e.asp

et en francais pour M. Ollie et nos autres amis francophone:

http://www.airforce.forces.gc.ca/news/2004/09/16_f.asp

I have attended a couple of times in the past, but it was nothing like they seem to be planning for this year. I have to say I am really impressed. I think I'll be even more impressed when I see it. :!: :!:

Hope to see you Sunday.

Charles
