This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

interesting stats, but note none were lost in action during recon missions due to enemy interception from missiles or aircraft or triple A.

For an aircraft that was that far ahead of its time, its darn amaizing that they didnt lose more of them. Have pics of blackbird doing a burner pass at OSH 97 right before it had to do an emergency landing in milwaukee. I guess I will haveto dig that box out....

Does anyone know if the SR had a special air- refuel unit to service the SR's and its fuel.

Does anyone know if the SR had a special air- refuel unit to service the SR's and its fuel.
Early on the only tanker used to refuel the SR was the KC-135T and now the KC-135Q
70th ARS out of little rock AFB
100 Air Refueling Wing out of David Monthan
306th AREFS
380th AREFS
plus a couple others
The 903rd handled most of the CIA's A-12 and D-21 refueling needs.

Rumor has it that one crashed near by here years ago. The locals said that it was a UFO or something else, but the Air Force says it was the engine off of an SR.
